The Infant-Caregiver Project studies the effectiveness of training programs for parents of young children.

We have developed a training program that addresses the special emotional and relationship needs of children who have experienced adversity and disruptions in care.

  • Infants who experience early adversity face disruptions in care and inadequate care at a point when relationships with caregivers are critical to healthy development.
  • Caregiving relationships provide the basis for children’s ability to organize and regulate behavior, emotions, and physiological functions, such as stress responses and daily rhythms.
  • When children experience significant threats to their attachment relationships, their ability to maintain behavioral, emotional and physiological organization is compromised.
